BIO

CLINTON ANTHONY JOHNSON graduated from Crenshaw High School’s Gifted Magnet Program and moved to the opposite corner of the United States to pursue his baccalaureate degree atColby College in Waterville, ME. Mr. Johnson was heavily involved in the Department of Music where he engaged piano, organ and voice lessons. in addition to membership in both of Colby’s flagship choral groups, the Chorale and Collegium Musicum. he also found his muses at Colby and has been composing and arranging music ever since.

 

Rather than perform full-time, Johnson decided to accept his calling to work in education. He served the students of Bell High School (LAUSD) as a teaching assistant under the Title I

and EL programs. Concurrently, Clinton pursued and completed a graduate degree in Cross-Cultural Teaching and earned a Master of Education degree from National University with “Distinction”.

 

Clinton left Southern California and moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where he taught for ten years n the Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools. He also spent seven seasons singing with the Nashville Symphony Chorus.

 

Clinton returned to So Cal and taught two years at Audubon Middle School and Gifted Magnet. He now pursues his dream of working with the very young in LAUSD’s Elementary Music Program, where he’s teaching instrumental music to third through sixth graders to play standard orchestral instruments.  He’s honored to be able to work with young composers!
