BIO

GEORGE ABUD is an Arab-American actor and multi-instrumentalist. He is the recipient of a 2019 Daytime Emmy Award for his work on NBC’s Today Show with the Broadway Production of The Band’s Visit, as well as a 2020 Drama Desk Award Nominee for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical for his role as “Nerd Face” in the new musical Emojiland, for which he appears on the Original Cast Recording. On Broadway he has originated roles in The Band’s Visit starring Katrina Lenk & Tony Shalhoub, and The Visit starring Chita Rivera & Roger Rees, also appearing on both Original Broadway Cast Recordings. Off-Broadway he has created roles in The Resistible Rise Of Arturo Ui opposite Tony Award Nominee Raúl Esparza, in Nathan The Wise opposite Academy Award Winner F. Murray Abraham, in Peer Gynt opposite Tony Award Winner Gabriel Ebert, and in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Allegro directed by Tony Award Winner John Doyle, all for Classic Stage Company in New York City. Internationally he starred opposite Broadway greats Barbara Walsh, Marc Kudisch, and Paulo Szot in the world premiere political opera The New Prince at the Dutch National Opera in Amsterdam. He has studied Classical Arabic music through 4 generations of musicians in his family and for over 25 years, and performs around New York City in a solo capacity on the Oud. George loves bringing the beautiful language of Arabic music to all kinds of people, especially those that might never experience it.
